Android App Player for BlackBerry PlayBook Leaked

android-playbook

Wow, here is a serious surprise for PlayBook owners. Apparently, this was easily found through a changelog in a Desktop Manager update. We’ve been sent a beta build of the Android App Player for the PlayBook. It is a huge file, lags a bit, has no visible back button (you have to swipe left on the bottom bezel), but we’re told nonetheless it works. The app itself is controlled through a series of swipe gestures. This beta version is fairly old, so don’t hold it against them. You of course have to side-load the .bar file to install. Google search for DDPB installer to side-load easily.

No comas here but it’s aggravating that you can’t go “back.” At the very least, it’s interesting to see what this is gonna look like. I wonder how current this actually is. It appears to have been built only a couple of days ago. If that is true, then we are still a pretty good ways awy from having an official release of this.

  9. In crackberry some are saying that two finger swipe left gesture on bottom bezel works for go back.

  10. Is there a way to add the application. No point in downloading if apps can’t be downloaded.

  11. apparently, email is also available.

The left swipe (I only used one finger) does seem to work. And there are several “native” apps on there. Haven’t figured out how to add any yet but I (or somebody) will…

  13. fgarat

hahahaha, my playbook has “native” email client!

I ended up updating the playbook last night and today im trying to install this android player.. and it dosent seem to show up anywhere.
could it be that the update was a security patch that dosent allow this app to be installed?

  18. Jason Krest

Has anyone been able to install this on the playbook simulator

  19. My brother suggested I would possibly like this website. He was once entirely right. This post actually made my day. You can not consider simply how much time I had spent for this information! Thanks!
