Assassin’s Creed Identity Will Be Released For iOS Later This Month

Ubisoft recently revealed more information about the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Identity. Assassin’s Creed Identity is set to release on iOS on February 25, and it will only be available on the mobile platform.

The game, which takes place in Renaissance Italy, is controlled completely via the touchscreen on the iPhone or iPad. However, a video released by Ubisoft shows that the game can run with an Xbox controller via Bluetooth. The combat, free running and overall look of the game are similar to the classic Assassin’s Creed games, as compared to the side-scrolling Assassin’s Creed Chronicles games.

Ubisoft decided to stage the game in Renaissance Italy, the same setting of Assassin’s Creed II, because of the acclaim it received from fans. Also, the game is designed to appeal to both long-time players and newcomers to the series. Uniquely, the assassin you play as is based off a class. There are four classes available, and each class can be trained and improved. The idea is to allow the player to mold their character the way they want to play the game. Assassin’s Creed is having a relatively quiet year in terms of video gaming. Typically, there is one major title released toward the end of the year. However, none have been announced yet, and it is rumored that the next major installment will not be released until 2017. The game is also rumored to take place in ancient Egypt, a first for the series.

Although Ubisoft is not releasing any major titles, it doesn’t mean that Assassin’s Creed is having a quiet year. The Assassin’s Creed film, starring Michael Fassbender, is scheduled to be released December 21, 2016. Shooting for the movie wrapped up a while ago, so it seems that the film will make its scheduled release date.
