Post Will RIM continue the Pearl Line-up?
on: February 10, 2011, 10:56

The Pearl was actually the first BB I ever held, and it seemed to be the most popular one that all my friends initially got.

From all the leaked phones we’ve seen, it seems the Pearl has been neglected. I know the sales of the phone are way down compared to the best-selling Curve, but I always thought there’d be a market for a small candy-bar form Pearl.

I do actually quite like the 9100, it has all the specs of the 9700 minus the full qwerty keyboard.

what do you guys think?

I think Pearl 3g is not getting the attention it should have. The phone itself is really great, and has all the features that 9700 has. The ammount of applications in AppWorld is, however, insufficient. I think this is result from lack of enough publicity.

I guess some aren’t seeing the appeal of suretype keyboards anymore. They’re either opting for a full keyboard or a full touchscreen phone now.

I’d like to think they will but I also thought that with the surepress. The reason is that I know a few people who prefer the pearl keyboard and the same goes with the surepress.

Me on the other hand, I prefer the full keyboard layout.

But you get the whole argument that RIM is focusing on too many devices but they are just variants of the cdma/gsm types that people seem to lug into the same group. Never did get that. Covering low end and high end is a good thing too (curve / Bold etc).
