Hi guys I am new to this forum and this is my first post so go easy on me.
I have a Torch 9810 with OS 7.0.0.254 and would very much like to update to OS 7.1.0.205 to take advantage of it’s numerous benefits. My provider is Rogers Communications and according to a telephone conversation recently with one of their tech reps it does not appear that they are in any rush to release this software to the consumer. My dilemma is that I’m not terribly tech savvy and therefore not entirely sure how to do this. I have dowloaded OS 7.1.0.205 off of this site to my desktop and have deleted the vendor file. I have spent numerous hours searching the web and am thoroughly confused. Would anyone be able to provide some guidance for me so that I don’t brick my phone?

There may be two vendor.xml files. You can use your computer’s search to find them. There may be one hidden in your personal folder. Once that is deleted, and you have installed the software, connect your BlackBerry to your computer and open Desktop Manager. It should automatically recognize the new OS and ask you if you want to update. Click yes and continue the rest of the steps it tells you :) Hope that helps!

so you can just overwrite the existing OS without deleting it first?

OS 7.1.0.0.205 is running, download went smooth as silk!

One thing I have noticed with 7.1.0.0.205 is with the clock setting. With the old OS you had the option of an analog or digital clock face, with this one only analog clock face is available.
