BlackBerry OS 7.1 Not Releasing Until Spring in Europe?

europe-bb-71

During CES 2012, RIM announced BlackBerry OS 7.1 and showcased it multiple devices. RIM said the OS 7.1 update had started rolling out to carriers and to expect it in a few days to a few weeks. Sprint and Verizon Wireless were quick to jump in the OS 7.1 bandwagon by already releasing the update.

However, many other carriers seem to be dragging their feet. One N4BB reader inquired to UK BlackBerry about when to expect an official OS 7.1 update to his Bold 9900. Their answer: OS 7.1 will be available in Europe this Spring. That’s a nearly 3 month wait. Hopefully some of the European carriers will act quickly and release the simple update. Maybe NFC is what’s causing them to drag their feet?

Thanks @4star_General!

  1. Couldnt you install the os from a north american carrier and just delete the vender.xml file? Should work the same.

Anyone know when 7.1 will hit the 9790?

Does anyone know if this update addresses the frequent signal loss/drop to SOS in this OS and the battery drain? I never had this problem on my Curve 9300 but constantly lose signal on the 9900 and 9860 and am considering never getting a Blackberry again which is a shame as I have had them for years and love them.
