According to statistics from StatCounter.  BlackBerry’s Market Share in the US has jumped to 4.45% from about 1.4% in recent days.  This indicates that BlackBerry market share has apparently more than tripled recently.

While this news appears to be an indication that BlackBerry is back in business in the US.  Let’s take a closer look at the data.

The increase takes places over the span of a few days, which either indicates that the StatCounter numbers are not accurate to each day, or that new data has been added into the system.  Regardless, millions of BlackBerrys are typically not bought in the span of a few days.  This is not Apple we are talking about.

Secondly, a jump of about 3% (absolute) in US market share works out to just over 4.1 million BlackBerry devices sold recently in the US alone.  This seems very unlikely as BlackBerry has only shipped about 2.7 million BlackBerry 10 devices worldwide recently, and its highly likely even fewer BlackBerry 7 devices were bought as well.

I would take these numbers with a huge grain of salt.  My take is that either the numbers before or after are incorrect as a jump like this is unlikely.
