Speaking at the Communitech Tech Leadership Conference in Kitchener-Waterloo, BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins expressed his surprise in BlackBerry 10 attracting other platform’s users.
Heins couldn’t give any figures before the earnings call on March 28th, but he did give hints. “I was surprised when we launched in India how well the Z10, which is a high-end device, sold,” said Heins.
“We shipped into the channel product that we thought would have been good for at least five days and I got an emergency call from our manager in India, saying that they were sold out in two days…”
This is surprisingly good to hear, given the fact the BlackBerry Z10 has been marketed as a high-end device in a market ruled by entry-level devices. BlackBerry is now increasing the production level for the channel.
