To find out if your BlackBerry is “locked” to your current network provider, follow these steps:
– On your BlackBerry, go to Options > Advanced Options > SIM Card.
– While at that screen type MEPD on your keyboard (please note that if your BlackBerry model is 71xx or 81xx you will need to double-tap the P, so the actual keys entered become M E P P D). Text will not show when typing and a new menu will pop up.
– If your blackberry is “unlocked”, it will say Disabled or Inactive for all the fields (SIM, Network, etc). If it says Enabled or Active, it’s still locked to the original carrier and requires unlocking.
If you see next to “Network” word “active” , then your blackberry is locked and will require unlocking. If you see “active” next to “service provider”, then you will require another code (MEP4 unlock code) that we will also provide to you. And if your network says “blocked’ than your phone is hard locked to the original network provider and can not be unlocked by IMEI
After you typed MEPD type MEP2 and pop up window will show you how many tries you have to enter unlock code. If you have “0″ your phone is hard locked to the original network provider and can not be unlocked by IMEI.
