PlayStation 4.5 Is Real.

After months of rumors pointing towards a PlayStation 4.5-in-the-making, Sony has finally revealed that the highly anticipated gaming console is indeed a reality.

Speaking to the Financial Times, Sony Interactive Entertainment Group CEO and President Andrew House confirmed Friday that the PlayStation 4.5 is indeed coming, and that it is “intended to sit alongside and complement the standard PS4.”

House’s statement is believed to confirm previous suppositions that the upcoming PS 4.5 is not intended to entirely replace the gaming console’s predecessor, which is also considered as one of the company’s best-selling products.

According to House, the company will continue to sell the PlayStation 4 even after the PlayStation 4.5 is released.

The PlayStation 4.5 is expected to be a lot more powerful than its predecessor — and is also expected to come with a much heftier price tag.

It’s unclear, however, if Sony’s new gaming console will be priced somewhere within the current price range of the PlayStation 4, which is expected to continually decline in price over the coming years.

Although the PS 4.5 was originally expected to grace the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 with its presence, fans might be disappointed to know that Sony has decided not to showcase its upcoming gaming console in the forthcoming event.

Sony has not announced the PlayStation 4.5’s official release date as of yet, and specifications of the already highly coveted gaming console is still unknown as of writing — although it has long been assumed that it will include support for 4K resolution.
