RIM Changes Names: BBX now BlackBerry 10

On the cusp of RIM being barred from using the BBX moniker, they have decided to change the name to BlackBerry 10. The announcement came at DevCon Asia, as RIM was legally bound to not use ‘BBX’ during the conference. It will be interesting to see where the BlackBerry 8 and 9 fall into place. Nonetheless, BlackBerry 10 is what will be the “official name of the next generation platform that will power future BlackBerry smartphones.”

    RIM has to realize they’re not Apple, and can’t use mystics and jedi mind tricks to persuade companies to give them their product name.


  2. so what would they have called bbx after its initial launch? bbx1 bbx 2? i wonder if using it that would you reflect copyright? i guess so hey since its so similar?
