RIM Ranked #6 in Companies Trying to End ‘Conflict Minerals’
Blood diamonds anyone? Research In Motion certainly isn’t up for them. At least, they’re trying to end their use of ‘conflict minerals’ for use in their BlackBerry handsets. The Enough Project fights to end genocide and crimes against humanity, focused on areas where some of the world’s worst atrocities occur. They accumulate the facts on the ground, use rigorous analysis to determine the most sustainable solutions, influence political leaders to adopt their proposals, and mobilize the American public to demand change.
The chart above shows tech company’s efforts to not use Raw Materials that have been mined to fund a war effort, or mined using slave labour or similar. Of the 24 companies listed, Research In Motion ranks as the 6th best. Hopefully, RIM can continue to improve on this and use less conflict minerals.
