Monaco 9850 & Monza 9860 to be Branded as BlackBerry ‘Volt’? Other Rumors Suggest Torch

We’ve been sitting on this piece for a little while, trying to independently confirm it. Nonetheless, We’ve received from multiple sources that a possible retail brand name for the Monca 9850 and Monza 9860 could be ‘Volt‘. However, we have also heard RIM to be mulling around with the 9850/9860 staying in the Torch family. This device is set to be RIM’s next-generation slate device, looking to recap on the failed Storm brand. Although, the 9850/9860 has dropped the SurePress click-in touchscreen technology for the same capacitive screen as the Torch.

We have yet to see any tangible evidence (internal slides) that the Monaco/Monza will be called the BlackBerry Volt, so do take this with a grain of salt for now. We’ll keep digging at this and hope more information comes to light. Time will tell whether this device stays as a Torch or gets debuted as a new brand. The 9850/9860 will sport a 1.2GHz processor, 768 MB RAM, 3.7-in touchscreen, and more found in the full spec sheet.

  1. Can anyone confirm the spec is accurate that it has only 4gb of internal memory? I like the name Volt btw…

    • Can’t ‘confirm’ it until RIM officially announces it, but the spec sheet is authentic. That leads me to believe it’s true, but anything can change up until the product launches.
