samsung odyssey

It’s been a while since Samsung tried to appeal to the gaming community. While the company does make powerful smartphones and tablets, gamers prefer their laptop. And now, after making some notebooks and PCs over the years, the Korean company is entering the gaming world with Samsung Odyssey. The new laptop is the first dedicated gaming laptop Samsung has unveiled in a long time.

Minimalistic design

The first thing you notice about the Samsung Odyssey is the minimalistic approach to the design. The simple, all-black exterior provides a breath of fresh air in the design market for laptops. When you fold up the laptop, the only thing you’ll notice is the Odyssey logo.Once you open the laptop, the same design language continues. You get a full RGB keyboard, a feature that only few Razer and MSI laptops have it. And while Samsung sticks to the minimalistic design, the keycaps are some of the biggest you can find on a notebook keyboard.

Light and easy

The biggest advantage Samsung will have with the gaming laptop is weight. Unlike most gaming laptops, the Samsung Odyssey is extremely light and easy to carry. There is still no precise number, but Samsung claims that the laptop will weigh only 3.79kg (around 8lbs).

Users can pop off the bottom cover that is vented thanks to the HexaFlow Vent system. Compared to the competition, the Odyssey is lighter than the 17-inch laptops like Origin EON17-x or the MSI GT73VR Titan Pro. However, the Razer Blade Pro is lighter and still among the best gaming laptops on the market.

What you get inside?

For starters, you get two versions of the Samsung Odyssey. Those who want a smaller screen, they can opt for the 15.6-inch model. However, if you prefer size, Samsung offers a 17.3 inches display screen as well.Inside, the Samsung Odyssey is powered by Intel i7 processor with 32 GB of DDR4

Samsung goes Wi-Fi centric at CES

And while the Odyssey was the star of the Samsung show at CES, the Korean company still managed to offer a bundle of other devices. What was noticeable is that Samsung showed a smart washer with Wi-Fi, smart dryer with Wi-Fi, and much more Wi-Fi centric home appliances. One thing is certain, Samsung wants to try the Apple way, and connect all your devices in the home. You can monitor almost any Samsung home appliances device from your smartphone. The Samsung Fridge of 2017 features a screen like a tablet, further enhancing its “smart” feature.
