One of the creators behind the BlackBerry PlayBook root, Neuralic, whipped up a video showcasing the Android Market, Android Native Email and Google Apps. Once you’ve rooted the PlayBook you can load up an Android launcher. You’ll also need to convert keys that get generated after rooting with a tool called puttygen. Use this to convert the file named “rsa” in your dingleberry folder to a .ppk file. Once you’ve done that, you’ll be able to log in to your root with these tools using “root” as the username and the .ppk file that you made as authentication. Check out the video on it below.

the fact is, a rooted blackberry playbook just opens a whole lot more for users and that’s the unfortunate truth. right now… currently there’s not too much going for the playbook until the 2.0 drops and even then, im not that happy with the new look UI.

I think RIM is at a crossroad when it comes to device safety VS connectivity and public appeal. Not sure what is best for them at the moment.
On the other hand, due to the security of BBOS, I think the should keep 1-2 BBOS phones alive (9900 and 9700 maybe) for the next 10 year, stop any development and sell these secure phones for governement and company BES only.
