Gaming power isn’t chained to your desk anymore. Acer showed off their latest Predator 15 and 17 gaming laptops today at IFA. Both desktops rock 6th gen Intel Core CPUs, NVIDIA GTX980 graphics and can be spec’d with up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM and 512GB solid state hard drives. Performance on these SSD’s is so high, Acer claims you can transfer a 10GB movie in 4 seconds. Predator notebooks feature an Acer technology called DoubleShot Pro, using both Ethernet and Wi-Fi connections in tandem to maximize throughput. Predator 17 models feature a 4.2 speaker system; four built-in speakers and two subwoofers. Predator 15 models have 2.1 speaker systems.
As with their desktops, Acer has designed a special cooling system for the Predator series notebooks. Not only is there a triple fan cooling design in place, you can also get Predator FrostCore to boost cooling. Essentially, it’s a Cooler Master fan module which can be swapped into the Predator’s disk bay. Predator DustDefender reverses the fan’s rotation to clear out dust and dirt, all of these controlled by the CoolBoost app. Acer PredatorSense gaming control panel lets you customize keyboard lighting and programmable keys.
Predator series notebooks will be available in November for North America, starting at $1,499, and ship with Windows 10. European delivery also starts in November with prices starting at 1,599 Euros for the Predator 15 and 1,799 Euros for the 17.
