The bad news for Samsung Galaxy Note 7 owners is that their cell phone is dead. As in, completely dead and recalled by Samsung. But the good news is that if you purchased accessories from Amazon, you can get a full refund, even though the products are pass the 30-day return window policy.
The Galaxy Note 7 is a classic example of “what could have been one of the greatest Android phones turning into a self-combusting disaster”. Once Samsung ordered discontinuation of the Note 7, the accessories for the phone became useless. Amazon is well aware of this fact, so they are doing everything in their power to make a bad situation better.
At the moment, Amazon is handling refunds on a “case by case basis”. It is unclear whether the company will issue a formal process. The good news is that the Note 7 refund policy extends to the accessories for the phone. Therefore, if you’ve purchased an accessory like dock charger or something else from Amazon for your Note 7, be sure to give them a call.
How to initiate the process?
Here is a step by step guide on how you can initiate the process for getting your money back from Amazon.
- Log into your Amazon account by entering your username and password
- Head over to the “Contact Us” page
- Select all the products in question you want to return. A word of notice: you may need to select the option “Choose a different order”. If your products are within the 30-day refund window, it will be easy. However, for products outside the 30-day window, you have to select “choose a different order” option
- Find the products you want to return, and then enter the required prompts
- Once you get at the end of the page, you will be offered an option to send an email, a phone call, or you can even text what with someone from the Amazon support staff.

Amazon has a simple 30-day refund policy. It is important to know that when you are returning an item, the amount of your refund, and how the refund will be issued may differ. It all depends on the condition of the item, how the item was purchased, and how long you’ve had that particular item. The good news for owners of Galaxy Note 7 accessories is that Amazon is allowing return pass the 30-day window.
In normal cases, Amazon refunds only 80% of the amount pass the 30-day window. In this case, however, Amazon will refund full price. Once you start the refund process, you can check the payment method and the status at “Your orders” page.
It can take up to two weeks for Amazon to receive the item, process the return and refund policy. You can choose a preferred return method, and depending whether you want gift card, credit card, debit card, or checking account, the time varies. Gift cards are awarded immediately, while refund for credit card may take up to 5 days, and 10 days for debit card.
