Amazon has just announced something that took all of us by surprise. The popular online store will no longer be selling Apple TV and Google’s Chromecast.
According to Amazon, they will stop listing said products and will be deleting existing ones starting October 29th. The reason for this move has little to do with them being competition for their own media centers, and all to Amazon’s Prime Video service.
Amazon says Apple TV and Google’s Chromecast don’t play well with Prime Video, which is why they will no longer sell it. They want to make sure the streaming devices they sell work with Prime Video to “avoid confusion with customers”.
Any other streaming device currently available on Amazon, such as Roku and gaming consoles, are safe as long as Prime Video works on them. So far it’s only Apple TV and Chromecast.
