The Evil Empire of wireless carriers, AT&T, is at it again. According to a report by Droid-Life, starting August 1st, AT&T will be raising all new activation fees from $40 to $45 per line on new one-year or two-year contracts.
If you thought going with AT&T’s Next plan would save you from having to pay anything, you’d be wrong. AT&T’s Next will get rid of their “no activation fee” promise and introduce a $15 fee per new phone added. This includes both purchases made at AT&T and phones that are brought SIM-free to the network.
If you’re looking to upgrade your device, you have a little over a week to do so before these new activation fees go live.
