Earlier today, BlackBerry’s Michael Clewley gave a teaser on what BlackBerry 10.3’s icon styling will be like in the upcoming update.

Personally, I like the direction BlackBerry is taking the icons styling. Finally, the company has done away with the hideous boxed gradient behind the icons.

The new icons have a flatter design with a thin drop-shadow. However, graphic designer @Pootermobile took the design a step further to reinterpret the flat design.

The flat look has really grown on me. I must say, BlackBerry should adopt a complete overhaul of all native icons to embrace the flat design as shown in this visual graphic above.

Furthermore, require all developers to change their own icon styling for added consistency. What say you? Are you liking the direction BlackBerry is taking the UI in the upcoming 10.3 update?
