With All the doom and Gloom surrounding RIM’s aged BB7 platform one would think that no one wants it. Seems people underestimate the popularity of BlackBerry still globally.

“It’s always good to be underestimated” -Donald Trump.

The IDC released yesterday the global smartphone shipments for Q3 2012, now the shipments have grown to a whopping 179.7 Million phones. RIMs piece of that pie? 4.3% or 7.7million units shipped, which is enough to put RIM in 3rd Place Globally behind Samsung with 31% of the shipped units, and Apple with 15% of the shipped units.

While the next quarter at RIM might not be so bright as the knowledge of BB10 continues to grow as does the excitement from many BlackBerry users, sales might slow down, but we have been saying that for a few quarters and RIM keeps coming out with a solid balance sheet, that’s more than can be said for some of the Android manufactures out there.

I don’t know about you, but I’m a proud BlackBerry user and it seems like the world has many of us.
