During the RIM hosted BlackBerry 7.0 overview webcast, a few highlights of what to expect in OS 7 have been unveiled. We previously saw RIM out some of the new devices by officially releasing their simulators and announcing changes in screen resolutions. The upgrades to the user interface include new icon size of 92×92, 32-bit colors, and higher resolution with the Bold 9900/9930 hitting a max of 287 PPI.

Along with upgraded hardware, OS 7 will include support for:

  • Magnetometer support
  • Window manager
  • Augmented reality
  • Near field communications
  • HD video recoding
  • Open GL ES 2.0 for enhanced gaming
  • Liquid graphics
