Today RIM announced that BlackBerry 7 smartphones have been evaluated by the Common Criteria evaluation facility and met the security criteria for evaluation assurance level (EAL) 4+.  EAL4+ is the highest standard that the Common Criteria Recognition Agreement mutually support. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to any of us, knowning how RIM has always worked hard on the security of BlackBerry smartphones, but it’s nice knowing how good they are at it.
