BlackBerry’s original PlayBook wasn’t as huge of a success as the company and its fans expected, but there’s a slim possibility, according to BlackBerry CEO John Chen, that they may be taking another crack at the tablet game sometime in the future.
In an interview with CNET today, John Chen gives hope to those waiting for a second BlackBerry to be released.
“It’s not in the works, but it’s on my mind,” Chen told CNET at Mobile World Congress this week. While BlackBerry doesn’t have immediate plans to launch a tablet, it’s interesting that Chen didn’t dismiss the notion of it when asked.
If BlackBerry does get back into the tablet game, don’t expect it to look like all the other run-of-the-mill ones out there. “I want it to be different. I want it to be iconic. Bringing a tablet out for a tablet’s sake, it’s not the right thing to do.”
We’ll have to keep waiting to see if BlackBerry indeed does make plans for a tablet with BlackBerry 10 or not. I’d personally love to see a PlayBook-like device that can run the Hub, and maybe even incorporate a different version of the BB10 keyboard for easier typing.
That’s just me though. Would you guys want to see a BlackBerry tablet make its way to market? Let us know in the comments!
