After announcing a new deal with Amazon this morning, BlackBerry CEO John Chen spoke with FOX Business about what the company hopes to get from it, and how he envisions the two working together in the future. Among the things Chen points out is the fact that BlackBerry’s focus on enterprise led them to need a partner on the consumer apps side moving forward. BlackBerry currently counts with 130,000 apps in BlackBerry World, according to Chen. Adding to that the 240,000 apps from Amazon, and all of a sudden, BlackBerry will have surpassed Microsoft’s Windows Phone for number of apps available.
Chen also mentions that BlackBerry will be encouraging the developers to port over their apps to Amazon’s App Store as well.
