In an upbeat internal memo leaked by sources at Reuters, BlackBerry CEO John Chen updates the company on the status and progress of current affairs. BlackBerry has currently ceased its downsizing and has, generally, put the worst of its transitory growing pains behind them.
“We have completed the restructuring notification process, and the workforce reduction that began three years ago is now behind us,” said the memo from BlackBerry’s Chief Executive John Chen that was sent out on Friday.
“More importantly, barring any unexpected downturns in the market, we will be adding headcount in certain areas such as product development, sales and customer service, beginning in modest numbers,” said Chen, who personally thanked those that have stayed with the company through the process.
While more of the memo was not put online, the general tone is that BlackBerry is back, firing on all cylinders. In the 8 months of Chen’s tenure, he has done a magnificent job stabilizing the company and getting it on a clear execution path for future releases along the roadmap.
All in all the company is lean, mean and buckling down for the Fall season as they aim to meet their mark of being cash flow positive by the end of the current fiscal year.
