Yesterday was brutal. I’m still trying to digest everything announced during BlackBerry’s Q1 2014 earnings and call. Given the announcement from CEO Thorsten Heins on the development of BlackBerry 10 for the PlayBook, or lack thereof, it’s suitable to claim that the PlayBook is officially no longer a supported BlackBerry device.

The PlayBook is another disfigured, failed product to add alongside the Storm series. It’s highly unlikely we’ll see BlackBerry push much effort into anything relating to PlayBook OS 2.x and Bridge.

When BlackBerry was actually planning to build the “real” BlackBerry 10 for the PlayBook, we heard the company have contracted out its development to a 3rd party. That way, BlackBerry’s in-house team could focus solely on BB10 for new devices.

I feel quite terrible for those who were suckered into purchasing the PlayBook while it was on sale with the anticipation it would receive BlackBerry 10. Now that the PlayBook is essentially a ‘DeadBook’, what are your plans? Vote in the poll below and sound off in the comments.
