When BlackBerry gave out the BlackBerry Dev Alpha devices to developers, their intention was to someday neutralize the devices and brick them after official BlackBerry 10 devices were released. The date was set to June 30th, which would be the date when all Dev Alpha’s would stop working completely and just become a cool looking paper weight.

Awesome news for those developers who still own a BlackBerry Dev Alpha A or Dev Alpha B. BlackBerry has announced on their BlackBerry blog that the new SDK 10.1 OS build will remove the expiration date from the Dev A and Dev B devices and you’ll still be able to use them. They’ll be set as an officially unsoported device, but you’ll still be able to use it for testing apps if you wish.

More info on this in the BlackBerry Dev blog.
