Yesterday, BlackBerry held its Annual General Meeting of shareholders. When asked about the poorly executed launch in the US, BlackBerry CEO concurred on the matter.

Today, the Wall Street Journal reports that BlackBerry has fired its US Managing Director, Richard Piasentin. The Journal also reports that a large number of layoffs are planned.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Richard Piasentin, which was undoubtedly one of our best interviews to date. Piasentin told us why the company planned to launch the Z10 first and how they would be “bringing the revolution”.

It’s certainly disheartening to see Piasentin let go. It will be most interesting to see how BlackBerry plans to restructure its approach to the ever-changing US market.
