BlackBerry, formerly known as Research In Motion, has been fairly active in its innovative patents. The most recently granted patent calls for touch-free image editing.

The software would synthesize a combination of images taken with IR and some without. Thereby being able to determine the intended areas of selection.

BlackBerry looks to extend this technology across multiple platforms, such as¬†“a mobile communications device, comprising: a digital camera… [and] a cellular subsystem…” claims the patent.
