*UPDATE 2* – Things seem to be starting to work again in some regions. RIM says they’re very sorry.
*UPDATE* – According to BBC, “The problem appears to have originated in a datacentre in Slough which handles Blackberry services for the affected regions.”
Having issues with e-mail delivery and BBM message sending/receiving? You’re not alone. UAE’s integrated telecom operator, Du, has confirmed with RIM that there is a BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) issue affecting Europe, Middle East, and Africa. Here’s what they’ve been tweeting:
We received updates from RIM confirming BB services in Europe, ME & Africa are affected starting 09:19 GMT today & degradation is ongoing. The level of impact is gradually improving, and as we speak, approximately 50% subscribers are effected in those regions. Subscribers may experience delays in sending or receiving messages, roaming, or using other services such as Internet browsing or IM.
Currently, there does not appear to be an ETA for resolution. We began receiving tips that users were experiencing issues after the rollout of BIS 4.1 in Europe. Hopefully, RIM will fix this issue quickly. Are you experiencing problems?
