BlackBerry PlayBook just received a minor update, with OS version 126.96.36.1997. The new update brings better support for Adobe Air and Flash.
Unfortunately, this will be the last update for the BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.x variations. According to BlackBerry’s ‘Software Support Life Cycle’ site, both PlayBook OS 2.0.x and 2.1.x will have End of Life (EOL) by April 2014. The past BlackBerry PlayBook OS 1.0.x went EOL on December 2013.
Could this be the last of PlayBook support? There are plenty of rumors running rampant that BlackBerry will still bring the BlackBerry 10 operating system to the failed tablet.
Though, BlackBerry remains silent and mostly adamant the company intends no further major PlayBook updates or standalone BBM application. Is the PlayBook now considered dead to you?
