The Apple Watch was recently unveiled as the Apple’s new smartwatch planned for release in 2015. BlackBerry doesn’t seem to have any plans to enter the wearables market. However, BlackBerry intends to bring its services to such products, namely with BBM.

BlackBerry is apparently already internally testing BBM on wearable devices. “We are doing some different experimentation internally with wearables,” John Sims, BlackBerry’s president of global enterprise services, said during a roundtable discussion with reporters.

“I would love for BBM to be running on a wearable,” he added, noting that it would likely be paired with a phone. Sims stressed that BlackBerry is not announcing or releasing any wearable product, but he said, “it’s definitely an area of research for us.”

This move seems to fall in line with what BlackBerry CEO John Chen has already emphasized. BlackBerry’s current focus appears to be on devices, BBM, enterprise services and technology solutions, which includes BlackBerry’s QNX subsidiary and Internet of Things business.

Perhaps by next year we will see BBM available on the Apple Watch and many other smart wearable devices. On what other mediums would you like to see BBM?
