This morning, BlackBerry Product Manager, Michael Clewley, confirmed via his BBM Channel (C00014277) what we’ve known for quite some time now, BlackBerry 10’s call screen will get a nice UI makeover with 10.2.1. Why is this not really a surprise? Well, back when the first 10.2.1 OS leaked, the change had already been implemented (check out the new call screen in full action here) and so far, it’s been working nicely.

The improvement in the call screen is definitely a welcome change. Clewley notes 3 reasons for it in his Channel post,

  1. The current up/down action created a think point. People couldn’t do something basic like answering the phone.
  2. Answer on the left matches the BBOS physical button
  3. It’s more industry standard and adopted and easier for all.

Some people have said this new call screen UI looks too much like what’s on Android. That may be true, but there’s not much you can really do with a call screen to make it look different aside from what BlackBerry 10 has right now, so I don’t see it as a big deal. Let us know what you think of the new call screen in the comments though!
