BlackBerry might not be entirely keen on going private, if sources’ claims are true. BlackBerry is allegedly in talks with Cisco Systems, Google Inc and SAP about selling them all or parts of itself.
This would be an alternate strategy for the company than the $4.7 Billion deal to go private from Fairfax Financial. Additionally, BlackBerry has “asked for preliminary expressions of interest from potential strategic buyers, which also include Intel Corp and Asian companies LG and Samsung, by early next week.”
The main interests these companies would be bidding on are BlackBerry’s NOC and patent portfolio. We previously reported their patent war-chest could be valued up to $10 Billion, but is expected to halve as the company continues to decline.
