Most of you will already know that the classic first-person shooter DOOM is getting a reboot, and it’s publisher Bethesda have just officially revealed some information and a trailer for it’s multiplayer modes.
Recently Bethesda released some information about the nine maps players can expect to see in DOOM’s online multiplayer mode, and now they have quickly followed up by showing players what options they have in game mode selection.
They have said that there will be 6 game modes available at launch : Soul Harvest, Freeze Tag, Warpath, Domination, Team Deathmatch, and Clan Arena – by mentioning that this is what will be available at the launch it’s more than likely they have plans to introduce additional game modes in the near future. The trailer below shows the first 3 game modes (Soul Harvest, Freeze Tag, and Warpath) in detail and shows us what to expect from DOOM, whilst the latter 3 are shown in a lot less detail. Probably because Domination and Team Deathmatch type modes are more common and have no need to be explained, and modes shown in more detail will be DOOM’s unique addition to the online multiplayer genre.

From the looks of things the developers at id Software have made a strong effort to create a game that can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with other first-person shooters, which is now such a highly saturated genre. When it comes to this type of game – particularly in the online multiplayer, it can be difficult to break away from the mould. Hopefully, with some more unique game modes and the gory blood and guts style DOOM is known for – this will prove to be a strong comeback for the franchise.
DOOM is set to be released on May 16th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
