Update: The rumor was confirmed to be false as BlackBerry was not in talks with Drake at the time.

Earlier today, BlackBerry CEO John Chen revealed the upcoming ‘Classic’ qwerty smartphone. The BlackBerry Classic encompasses the look of the Q10 with accent features pulled from the Bold series.

BlackBerry will release the Classic smartphone later this year in November. To kick off its launch, the company is allegedly in talks with musician Drake.

Drake is apparently a massive BlackBerry fan. However, he never upgraded to BlackBerry OS 10 due to there not being a device with a TrackPad.

Drake’s promotion of the BlackBerry Classic will have him claim we helped inspire, or re-inspire, the Classic BlackBerry smartphone.

For now, take this with a grain of salt. However, it might prove to be a wise decision if the company and Drizzy can co-op better than the Alicia Keys disaster.
