Today, BlackBerry has pushed out a Facebook update for BB10 users bringing the application to version It’s good to see they are continuing to build on the homebrew social apps like Twitter and Facebook. The latest update brings minor additions and bug fixes along with key new enhancements.

What’s new?

  • Tag friends in Status Posts and Comments
  • Delete or hide posts on your own timeline
  • ‘New Stories’ active link in the Newsfeed informs you as new stories are posted
  • Enhanced caching, so you can access all content downloaded prior to going offline, when offline
  • Screen Reader Accessibility Support (for buttons, jewels, and newsfeed)

You should start seeing the update post to BlackBerry World sometime today. ‘Checking for Updates’ may prompt it to your device sooner assuming its hit your region. Which can take up to 24 hours. Let us know how you like the new changes.

What else would you like to see? Personally, I wish we could swipe left to right in the Facebook app to reveal the navigation sidebar. While the gesture is used across the BB10 native apps it’s surprisingly missing within this application, and yet both iOS and Android versions of Facebook have this gesture. On BB10, you still have to bring a finger to the top left to reveal this menu.
