Prem Watsa’s Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd recently disclosed that its equity portfolio has a market value of $1,419,881,000 based on its 13F filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for Q1 2015.
The financial services holding company increased its stake in a few companies, including the purchase of additional 45,000 shares of BlackBerry Ltd.
Watsa now owns 46,699,700 shares of BlackBerry, which is worth $416,510,000. BlackBerry is the second largest stockholding of Fairfax Financial during the quarter.
Watsa isn’t the only prominent investor picking up additional $BBRY shares. The Kahn Brothers increased their investment in BlackBerry by raising their 289,960 shares to 1,846,010 shares.
Many believe BlackBerry is pioneering the way into the Internet of Things (IoT) market, which could become the company’s most profitable offering bundled with QNX and BES 12.
