Former BlackBerry CIO Robin Bienfait is set to come out of retirement and join Samsung in the near future, according to rumor from CrackBerry. The report states Bienfait will be named Chief Innovation Technology Officer at Samsung USA, but doesn’t specify when this will occur.

Robin Bienfait was BlackBerry’s CIO from 2007 until 2012, when she announced her retirement during RIM’s Fiscal Q3 2013 earnings report in December of that year, right before the launch of BlackBerry 10. The announcement was a bit abrupt, and unexpected according to many.

Samsung has been wanting to get into the enterprise space for a little bit with its KNOX service. Unfortunately, it still has a long ways to go to be considered a mainstay like BlackBerry, so maybe bringing in Bienfait could help them sell their enterprise solution and improve it down the road as well.
