BlackBerry 10’s biggest vocal force has rejoined Microsoft after his departure. Alec Saunders is the former BlackBerry VP of Developer Relations. Saunders eventually moved over to the QNX team prior to his departure in October.
Saunders now joins Microsoft as a “Principal Technical Evangelist” at Microsoft Ventures, Microsoft’s venture capital arm.
Microsoft was Saunders original home, where he worked for nearly a decade under various titles from 1992 – 2000.
“So it was natural that one of the first companies I reached out to after leaving BlackBerry would be Microsoft. As of last Monday, I’ve rejoined Microsoft in the role of Principal Technical Evangelist. My beat is Canada – not just Kitchener-Waterloo. My boss is Microsoft Chief Evangelist and Corporate Vice President for Developer Experience, Steven “Guggs” Guggenheimer. I’m part of the global Microsoft Ventures team. And we run programs, like the Microsoft Ventures Accelerators, that are focused on helping early stage companies achieve their full potential,” wrote Saunders in a blog post.
Saunders will always be remembered as the head of the BlackBerry developers relations team, which strived to gain top apps to the BlackBerry 10 platform.
