Once upon a time we complained that the movie industry was bringing us films based on toys and board games. Now we’ve a whole new level of insanity with the recent news that a film based on the chalky candy dispensers we all pretended to like is coming down the pipeline pretty soon.
Envision Media Arts has greenlit the film that will be written by Cameron Fay (Brothers In Law) and produced by the CEO of EMA, along with a handful of others.
As of yet, there are no details on story, director, or potential stars, so we’ll have to shiver with anticipation until the rumors start rolling in.
I’d love to hear what you think about this in the comments below. While we’re at it, what candy-based film would you like to see? For me the obvious choices are M&Ms and Sour Patch Kids. Maybe toss in Swedish Fish and create a whole cinematic universe where they all team up to fight a dentist who wishes to rid the world of all candy.
