There have been reports that Instagram will in fact make its way onto BlackBerry 10. However, Instagram’s CEO, Kevin Systrom, doesn’t convey the same message in a recent interview with Fast Company.
First discussing the potential of Instagram on Google Glass, Systrom moves on to give an example why the company is in no rush to get involved in the Glass program, by saying how they do not plan a BlackBerry or Windows Phone app “anytime soon”.
Although, Systrom never says never, just that if they planned a Google Glass app, it would be after a BlackBerry and Windows Phone app. “I’m not saying those will come anytime soon. I’m just saying that in order of priority, the way we evaluate where to expand to is really simply where our users are, and where the growth is,” the systrom explained. “It took us a very long time to get to Android.”
Many development companies seem to be on the “wait and see approach” with BlackBerry 10. They rather not invest the development dollars. However, with Instagram, they could simply port their Android app for free.
