A few days before the latest generation of iPhone is available to the public, Apple has officially released iOS 9 for download. The update is expected to be available at 1:00 PM EST, so you’ve got a little bit of time to brush up on what’s changed in the newest operating system from the folks in Cupertino.
News is one of the latest apps from Apple that will put all the recent headlines right on your screen. Notes has been updated to make it easier to jot down all the important information you need at your fingertips. Maps will now integrate transit lines in tons of different cities around the world. Wallet and iCloud Drive also receive updates that will help keep you moving and productive.
Improved iPad Experience
Multitasking has been greatly improved with Split View, Slide Over, and Picture-in-Picture, three new features that make accomplishing several tasks a breeze. There’s also Quicktype, a new way to enter text that should shave off those valuable microseconds when updating a document or hammering out an email.
Siri Gets Smarter
Your iPhone’s personal assistant is now more intelligent and can remind you of more things, easily search for different pictures or videos in your phone, and can even guess what you’re looking for as soon as you start typing.
Better Performance Overall
iOS 9 also features different improvements under the hood that help make your iPhone or iPad snappier on the uptake. Battery life has been improved, updates will take up less space (1.3GB, compared to the 4.58GB of iOS 8), and improved security are just a few of the enhancements made.
