Canadian Business has released its list of Canada’s 50 most powerful people, and BlackBerry CEO John Chen managed to crack his way in to the top ten of that list.

Chen comes in at number 8 on the list, with the website proclaiming that he has, “put BlackBerry on track to serve a small but potentially lucrative niche of business clients and brought more focus to the company than it’s had in years.”

This is a pretty fantastic honor for Chen, who really has breathed new life into BlackBerry and has made many bold choices that will eventually prove to be the right ones in a couple years. While some of the decisions he made seemed a bit intense, I’m confident that in a couple of years, we’ll see a brand new company.

And then you’ve got choices that he’s made as CEO that have been flat out amazing. The ground-breaking design of the upcoming Passport and Classic is a daring choice that has been turning heads since they were officially unveiled back in June. I know I can’t wait to get my hands on these two phones, and I can honestly say I haven’t been this excited for a device in years.

I know I speak for the rest of the N4BB family, as well as all of #TeamBlackBerry, when I say congratulations to Mr. Chen for ranking so high on the list!
