I sent out a tweet earlier today stating that I had never been unsure of BlackBerry’s future until now. It seems as though interim CEO, John Chen, has allayed my fears a little by stating that the company isn’t done with making smart phones any time soon.

Chen spoke to Reuters this Monday and said, “I know we have enough ingredients to build a long-term sustainable business. I have done this before and seen the same movie before.”

Thorsten Heins was given the boot as CEO of the company after primary shareholder, Fairfax Financial, put in a $1 Billion investment into the company early Monday morning. Chen is the temporary replacement until the board is able to find a more permanent solution.

Temporary or not, Chen has plans to keep the company alive; plans that could take up to six quarters to fully bloom.

Whatever the case may be, I can sleep easy knowing that the Z30 most likely isn’t the last device that BlackBerry releases.
