OnePlus 2 users will soon be able to install a custom CyanogenMod ROM on their devices. The OnePlus 2 CyanogenMod ROM is the result of the hard work by some very eager developers.

The OnePlus One was originally released with the Cyanogen OS, which was essentially a slightly modified CyanogenMod ROM. Remember the cool Cyanogen boot animation and the engraving on the back of the OnePlus One?

Unfortunately, due to a conflict with Micromax in India, OnePlus had to end its partnership with Cyanogen. This resulted in the release of the Oxygen OS and thereafter, all OnePlus devices shipped with the same.

The OnePlus 2 comes with Oxygen OS, a modified version of the stock Android. It has some extra features, but plenty of bugs. CyanogenMod on the OnePlus 2 will be a treat for many, who are willing to root their device to experience Cyanogen again. Yes, to install the custom CyanogenMod ROM, OnePlus 2 users will have to root their device.

CyanogenMod has a huge community of developers and supporters. This means the OnePlus 2 CyanogenMod release will be largely bug free and there will be regular updates with plenty more features.

OnePlus hasn’t yet released the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow software for their devices. With CyanogenMod, you can get Android 6.0 on your OnePlus 2 very soon. There will be two versions of CyanogenMod ROM for the OnePlus 2, one based on Android 5.1.1 (CyanogenMod 12.2) and the other based on Android 6.0 (13).
