A new OxygenOS 3.2.2 OTA update is currently rolling out for OnePlus 3 users that brings several bug fixes and improvements to the camera.
The OnePlus 3 is a great smartphone and the latest flagship from OnePlus, but it isn’t without its own flaws. However, OnePlus has been providing regular updates with bug fixes and improvements.
Earlier this month, OnePlus seeded the OxygenOS 3.2 update to OnePlus 3 users that brought improved RAM management, an sRGB mode, and much more. Now, there’s a new update.
OxygenOS 3.2.2 Update
OxygenOS is a custom version of Android that is specifically tailored for the OnePlus smartphones. The latest version 3 is based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and OnePlus has started rolling out a new update for the OnePlus 3.
In the latest OxygenOS 3.2.2 update, the China based smartphone manufacturer has squashed more bugs. There are several new improvements in the latest update as well. Here’s a complete list of all that’s been fixed and improved in OxygenOS 3.2.2;
- Improved notification management in doze.
- Addressed alert slider/silent mode issue.
- Disabled fingerprint sensor while in pocket.
- Added NFC toggle in quick settings.
- Improved noise cancellation in video recording.
- Updated 4K video recording codec.
- Added latest security patches and various optimizations.
So, the OnePlus 3 now gets the NFC toggle in the quick settings, better notifications in Doze mode, and updated codecs for 4K video recording. Apart from these improvements, users can now disable the fingerprint sensor when the device is in pocket.
There’s more to the updated video recording codec than it is being said. At launch, several OnePlus 3 consumers complained of poor video recording. Thankfully, that is no longer a problem in the latest 3.2.2 update. OnePlus has improved the bitrate, changed the H.264 profile to High and now uses a CABAC encoding scheme.
In short, OnePlus didn’t really change the codec, as videos are still recorded in H.264. However, the quality has improved thanks to the changes in bitrate and other factors. The video file size will remain the same, but the quality will improve. Expect lots of changed in video quality when recording in 4K.
