At the most recent OpenWorld, Oracle’s CEO, Larry Ellison, gave a Big Data demonstration. The analysis involved nearly 5 million tweets and 27 million data points. The thing that surprised in the findings was BlackBerry devices were still in the mix with iOS and Android, in terms of those used to do the tweeting.
Though, Ellison did offer a disclaimer about the findings. He isn’t suggesting people immediately buy stock in RIM. But he did suggest that perhaps all the doom and gloom surrounding RIM and BlackBerry is over-stated.
It was an interesting find, considering all of the negative sentiments from the mass media. This was a relatively small-scale study, which only involved analysis from a search for the most ideal Olympic Athlete to potentially promote a Lexus car. Imagine what the findings might be on a large-scale study.
