Sony has announced a PlayStation 4 system software update scheduled for deployment “soon.” No estimated release date has been hinted, either.
It’s likely to be a minor patch, set to improve the stability of certain features across the console. The announcement of a new version comes less than a month since version 2.55, which also saw stability of system software features.
It will be interesting to see when Sony releases a larger update. Sony’s last major PS4 update was Yukimura, which introduced sweeping changes to the platform, including the long-awaited suspend/resume functionality.
