Porsche Design is at it again with the BlackBerry P’9982, the company’s second designed BlackBerry. The BlackBerry P’9982 is the third all-touch BlackBerry 10 device, and Porsche Design’s first BlackBerry 10 offer.

If you watched our unboxing video, you saw that the BlackBerry P’9982 comes in a fairly large box with a few goodies. After shelling out about $2,400 you’ll get the BlackBerry P’9982, a proof of authenticity card with your exclusive PIN, Porsche Design earbuds, four region charger heads, and a Porsche Design branded LS1 battery and cleaning cloth.

The BlackBerry P’9982 features similar hardware internals as the BlackBerry Z10. Both have 768 x 1280 pixels, 4.2 inches (~355 ppi pixel density) touchscreen, 2 GB RAM, 8 MP rear and 2 MP front-facing cameras, Dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait CPU, Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon chipset, and Adreno 225 GPU. However, the BlackBerry P’9982 sets itself far apart from the Z10 with its 64 GB of internal storage.

Despite similar internal hardware, the BlackBerry P’9982 is a completely different beast in its form factor. The BlackBerry P’9982 is forged from the finest quality stainless steel, with a satin finish complemented by a hand-wrapped, Italian leather battery door.

The iconic BlackBerry logo is embossed into the Italian leather battery door, while the Porsche Design logo is engraved into the stainless steel bezel.

On the software side, the BlackBerry P’9982 is relatively the same as the other BlackBerry 10 devices. Rather than a full fledged UI redesign of the operating system (like they did with the original P’9981) BlackBerry gave the P’9982 only subtle changes.

Instead of icons that have a background with a rounded edge, the icons on the P’9982 have a right-angle edge and a transparent to black gradient.

The P’9982 also features its own unique Porsche Design analog and digital clock. The similarities between the Z10 and P’9982 are so close that if you have a Z10 you can get the Porsche Design style clock following this hack.

Beauty and brains, the BlackBerry P’9982 is an absolutely gorgeous redesign of the Z10. Though, for some, the $2,400 price tag might make or break your decision to purchase this luxurious device. If you’re interested in buying a P’9982, check here for more details.
